Especially for children...

01. If you find a gun,
DO NOT pick it up OR touch it.

Do not think that any gun is a toy. Instead, leave the area and inform an adult that you trust, such as a parent, neighbor or police officer.

02. Always Keep the Muzzle Pointed in a Safe Direction.

A safe direction is one where you will not harm yourself or someone else if the gun accidentally discharges/shoots.

03. Keep the Gun Unloaded Until Ready to Use. Do not let a loaded gun leave your sight or your hands. When done shooting, unload the firearm. Make sure no ammunition is in the chamber or in the magazine.

04. Do not Rely on the Gun's Safety. It can fail. A person can also make a mistake and think the safety is on when it is not. Therefore always treat the gun as if it is loaded and the safety is off.

05. Learn how to Handle Your Gun. Learn the basic parts of your gun. Become competent and comfortable with the procedures for loading, unloading, carrying, shooting and storing it.

06. Always Know Your Target. You should always know your target and anything around and beyond it. Never fire in the direction of people even if they are beyond your target. Never shoot at a sound, movement or color. Make absolutely sure of what you are shooting at.

07. If Your Gun Fails to Fire - handle it with extreme caution. If your firearm does not fire when you pull the trigger, handle the weapon very carefully. Point the muzzle in a safe direction, put the safety on, carefully unload the gun, and carefully ad properly remove & dispose of the cartridge/bullet.

08. Never Use Alcohol or Drugs. Do not use a firearm while impaired by alcohol or other drugs. Alcohol and drugs impair your mental and physical abilities and affect your ability to handle and use a gun safely.

09. Transporting Firearms. Transport all firearms in a trunk or locked case, keeping them unloaded and separate from any ammunition.

10. Look for local firearms orientation courses in your area. Local courses will be able to fill you in on any laws and rules that may apply to your local area.
